The oyster basket was also very good. A sleepy seaside town, Highlands lost many vacationers to glitzier towns such as Atlantic City during the second half of the 20th Century.

Just visiting the town and had a hankering for some oysters. All menu items and drink specials are awesome.

I was certain the food would be a disaster. The food is fresh and delicious and reasonably priced.

A very comfortable experience. Oysters were good size, excellent taste, and served with crackers, and a variety of hot sauces. Fried oysters have to be cooked perfectly to be tasty and these fit the bill.

That being said, I love seafood as well and have tried various items on the menu and have yet to get a meal I am not happy with. Very casual place with some neat decor. Come to Sandy Hook to spend the day enjoying the ocean and basking in the sun, top it off with a wonderful seafood dinner and cocktails in Highlands!

After our lunch we had some friendly talk with some of the locals, which was a plus to our meal. He ate them up and said they were as tasty as they looked.

Our first and last meals are eaten here when we visit New Smyrna Beach! Visitors may tour the maritime museum, as well as enjoy a spectacular view of the ocean, the bay, Sandy Hook and New York. She piled our table high with dozens of oysters served on ice with lemon and cocktail sauce.
